I first met Francisco as a teenager when he was a student at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy where he became an accomplished player. It was when he determined that he would pursue a career in coaching tennis, however, that his unique talents and skills really blossomed. Mr. Montoya quickly became one of my top coaches at the NBTA. He worked with some of the top players that we created and he made significant contributions in their development.

I have been lucky enough to have had Francisco in my life since I was 10 years old. Francisco is so much more than a tennis coach to me. He instilled my love for tennis, as he has done to so many others. The effort that Francisco puts into his insanely long and tiring days is due to his passion for the game and its people.

One of the attributes that I admire most about Francisco is his humbleness. His motivation in helping students whether it be teaching exchange students how to speak English, arranging host families, participating in community service events, giving a ride or pep talk whenever needed is unmatched. He is always very quiet about all the extra things he does, never looking for any praise or approval. He is truly an amazing individual.

During my years as the Junior Player Development leader of USTA New England, Francisco's official initiative of online academic curriculums provided opportunities to some of our best prospects of the New England section to increase their time commitment to elevate their tennis level. This in turn translated into players joining some of the best collegiate academic and athletic programs in the country as well as competing on the professional circuit.

Francisco shaped me into the tennis player and person that I am today. He has been my tennis coach, mentor and friend ever since I was 8 years old. Through his guidance, encouragement, trust and the occasional constructive criticism, I was able to fulfill my dream of playing tennis at one of the top collegiate tennis schools in the nation, Northwestern University, and pursue a professional tennis career for a couple years following

Francisco combines being an intense coach and a caring person. He makes us work very hard during practices and is also social and involved off the court. Because of this, we see him as more than just a tennis coach and mentor. Francisco is respected because he can motivate players to work hard, require their best at each practice, and relate to players on a personal level. I have been very fortunate to work with him for the past five years.

Francisco Montoya is one of the best coaches I have had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with both on and off the court. His high character shines through, he coaches character first and tennis second! He has rgeat communication skills and easily builds great relationships built on trust and mutual respect with his players, fellow coaches and parents. Francisco is a life long learner and is always exploring ways to upgrade his coaching skills, which is a hallmark of a terrific coach!!

Back in 1999, Francisco awarded me with a two week scholarship at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (now IMG) and that openen my international tennis experience. Throughout the years, I joined his ITF teams in South America and Europe building a long lasting friendship that I truly value and respect.

I have known Francisco for over 20 years as a colleague but more important as a friend. He has great character and kind heart. As a professional, I rate him among the best developmental coaches in the world. Francisco's passion, knowledge, and ability to inspire people creates the best possible enviroment for everyone at every level of tennis.
